Background
Over the last two years the Lancaster District Community Coppice Group has helped to look after local woodland for the benefit of the community and wildlife through coppicing, thinning, path clearance, ride maintenance and other woodland mangement tasks. Management plans have been written and approved. Paul Bullimore who was employed as Communty Forester for the district until March 2017. The project has been renewed the 'Forest Friends' banner, and with paid project workers leading the volunteer sessions and events. The project coordinator is Simon Gershon, a trustee of Lancaster Green Spaces (registered charity no 1046701). Giving back-office support is Independent-Me (registered charity no 1168680)
What do you?
Who can join?
Anyone! We have range of activities; you don’t have to be physically strong. Under 16's need to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
When do you meet?
Our reegular woodland sessions have been on Thursdays, with extra events on some weekends. Check out our calendar for upcoming sessions.
I don’t know the first thing about woodland management; does this matter?
Not at all. If you have enthusiasm and willingness to learn we can help you learn as much or as little as you want to enjoy the great outdoors.
